About Michael

Michael Bush is a lighting designer based in Detroit, Mi. He is currently pursuing his BFA in Lighting Design at Wayne State University and is expected to graduate in May 2027.

Michael began his theatre journey in elementary school, running the Spotlight, and then started designing shows in his junior year of high school. From that point forward, Michael fell in love with lighting.

Michael is currently a Stagehand at the Michael A. Guido Theater, based in Dearborn, Michigan. His job involves theatrical, concert, orchestral, and live production lighting design, scenic construction, and other stagehand work. He has also been a spotlight operator for multiple indoor and outdoor productions. Michael’s most recent production was for Stoop Lee, The War and Treaty, and Third Eye Blind at Dearborn Homecoming.

Michael also works at Fantasee Integration as a Field Technician Apprentice, based in Detroit, Michigan, which comprises system installations and lighting hang and focus. One of the significant installations was his involvement in the exterior lighting upgrade at the Motor City Casino and Hotel in Detroit, Michigan, where he tested new lighting equipment to prepare for installation.

Outside of the Theatre, Michael loves to spend time with family and friends and enjoys discussing lighting.
